Friday the 13th has us in a spooky mood and is getting us in the Halloween spirit! With the beautiful weather that has been sweeping through New York and New Jersey, it is the perfect time to get out and do something fun with your family and friends. Fall is the perfect time to bake apple pie, go on a hayride, or… go pumpkin picking! At the Shamco Management offices, we love the fun of walking through a pumpkin patch on a nice fall day. They’re wonderful fall decorations by themselves, but you can also go a step further and carve your pumpkins! Thanks to CBS New York, we’ve got some of the best places in New York and New Jersey to go when you’re up for picking pumpkins. (We threw in a couple of our favorites, as well!)
Norz Hill Farm (Hillsborough, NJ) – Complete with corn maze, hayrides, pumpkin picking and animals, the Fall Festival at Norz Hill is fun for everyone! Sweets and treats made using produce from the farm is available so you can get a snack after you’ve picked your pumpkins!
Duffield’s Farm (Sewell, NJ) – With everything from a corn maze and Moon Bounce to face painting and “Pumpkin Land”, this family-friendly farm has more to offer than just pumpkin picking!
Alstede Farms (Chester, NJ) – Centrally located in New Jersey, this farm grows all kinds of seasonal produce that’s perfect for fall. Pick pumpkins, pick apples, enjoy a hayride and visit the animals!
Terhune Orchards (Princeton, NJ) – A beautiful orchard with plenty of pick-your-own options has more than pumpkins! Family Fall Weekends include pony rides, a cornstalk maze, Adventure Barn and more!
Stuart’s Fruit Farm (Granite Springs, NY) – This farm has been around for over 150 years and they’ve learned a thing or two about growing pumpkins. Check out the bakery and fresh produce they offer on-site for delicious snacks!
Wonderland Farm (Rhineback, NY) – Their 30-acre field has pumpkins of all sizes, sure to suit whatever you’re looking for! Gourds, apples and cornstalks are also available if you’re looking for more than just pumpkins!
Luna Park (Brooklyn, NY) – Right in our backyard, Coney Island has more to offer than just roller coasters! Check out the Halloween Harvest, boasting family fun every weekend through October.
Schmitt’s Family Farm (Melville, NY) – Not only can pumpkin pickers enjoy acres of pumpkin fields, this farm provides much more! Enjoy a hayride, small petting zoo and pony rides – or come by at night and dare to enter the haunted mansion!
